Abstract Body:

The Royce Deposition System is a multi-chamber, multi-technique system for deposition of thin films. In this talk I will introduce the capabilities of the system for growing thin films by sputtering, MBE and PLD. By creating multilayers of materials grown by different techniques, without having to break vacuum, we can look at interesting interface effects. The physical effects and new material properties unlocked at interfaces are key building blocks of technologies that can lower the energy needed for computing and open up new possibilities for quantum devices. I will show examples of materials from the Royce Deposition System, covering topological insulators, organic molecules and multiferroics.
