Abstract Body:

Guided mode resonant (GMR) structures provide a powerful platform for the realisation of a high performance, yet robust sensing platform. We have already demonstrated immunosensing performance in the pg/ml regime that is equal to or better than surface plasmon resonance and are now exploring their use in an industrial environment, where we have demonstrated resilience to mechanical vibrations and temperature changes. Regarding fabrication, we are exploring planar and roll-to-roll nanoimprint lithography where the waveguide coating is applied via sputter or atomic layer deposition. Overall, we demonstrate that the GMR platform combines high performance for deployment in a variety of applications while being realised at low cost.
